FeaturesOne infinite level, the play hook is to get as high a score as possible. You control the three gummy soldiers standing on the left side of the lane (pink, blue, yellow) by switching their lanes through drags on the screen. The goal is to match the colours with the colours of the enemies walking down the lanes when they reach the end. A mistake on a wave results in the loss of one life, when all three are lost the game ends and your score is tallied.

The waves are randomly generated. However there is a difficulty algorithm working that splits the difficulty of the game into three distinct gradients of progression as to the complexity and intensity of the waves. How the system is in this version of the game there is a point that the game becomes exponentially difficult and the game is functionally forced to stop. I explored using Cellular Automata to make a dynamic game difficulty system for my Dissertation.

The Story: This was the First game jam that I took part in was the Malta PlayCon 2019 game jam, at the beginning of the third and final year of my bachelors. It was a 2 day (48hr) game jam which was made up of about 10 student teams, including a lot of people in game design courses. I took part with two friends, one friend was the artist, the other friend and I were both programmers, and we all shared input and responsibility for design.

There was no particular theme for for the Game Jam, so we were free to do what ever we wanted.

We took first place in the competition, and this marked a proud moment for me as this was the first time that I felt like my skills were validated specifically for the games development field.
